Please join us for our March Lunch & Learn: Intersectional Disability Justice Frameworks for Liberated Futures.  This is a virtual Lunch & Learn on March 29, 2023 from 12pm-1pm.  It is free for both PRA and non-PRA Members, and is Pre-approved for 1 CRC credit!

Rana Yaghmaian, PhD, CRC is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Counselor Education at Portland State University. Dr. Yaghmaian received her PhD in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Yaghmaian’s research centers the experiences of women of color with chronic illnesses and disability and their experiences in medical settings, as well as college students of color with disabilities and how they navigate campus support spaces and resources. Her work has been funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration and the Spencer Foundation’s Racial Equity Grant program.  She is passionate about clinical supervision and integrating theory and praxis to train future counselors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define intersectionality
  • Define ableism through an intersectional framework
  • Review historical intertwining of whiteness, ability, and “normalcy”
  • Review contemporary representations of ableism-racism intersection
  • Review 10 principles of disability justice
  • Present ideas/strategies for visioning liberated futures in the context of participants’’ respective work and community environments
